February 15 & 16 • Art Quilt

The complete video about The Isaiah Quilt can be viewed here.

Richard Klein, Cindy’s husband, will present a program about her beautiful art quilt at the February guild meetings.  Above is a closeup of a tiny bit of Cindy’s wonderful, exceedingly detailed quilt.  It follows and depicts the Bible’s book of Isaiah, using meticulous hand applique and embroidery.

Believe it or not, Cindy was actually trained as a metallurgical engineer and worked as a project engineer in a petroleum refinery for over 10 years.  She was always a very creative person and gifted at many different types of crafts, but quilting was one of her favorite activities.  She made many quilts over the years and gave most of them away as gifts.  The Isaiah quilt seems have been the zenith of her quilt projects.  She worked on it on and off for 17 years.  Her quilting frame was often the prominent object in her living room.

She declared, “The purpose of the quilt is to glorify God first, then to encourage others to read the Book of Isaiah, and the rest of the Bible.  May the timeless truths and the prophecies in Isaiah speak to you and encourage you in faith in Jesus Christ.”

The verse referenced under the lion is Isaiah 65:25 which says,

“The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox, but dust will be the serpent’s food.  They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, says the LORD.”
