We are so proud to host Patti Hempen of Canyon Lake, Texas, who will share her knowledge and expertise in the quilting world as well as her new design techniques. She has won over 25 ribbons and awards and been juried into multiple AQS shows as well as the Mancuso Denver National and Quilting in the Garden in Livermore, California. She has owns “End of the Rainbow Quilts” in Texas since 1998 and is the author of a new quilting book, “Free-Form Symmetry – Fast, Fun & Fusible,” with another in progress.
In addition to her lectures and trunk shows on Thursday night and Friday morning, she will be teaching two classes, “Free Form Symmetry” and “Basket of Blooms.” Class size is limited and will fill fast!
Experience the freedom, elegance, beauty, and simplicity of Free-Form Symmetry, a brand new concept that lends itself to teaching students that they can actually design without knowing how to “draw.” The quilt “Suddenly Seymour” is the premise for this class; however, each student’s final product will be completely different from anyone else’s. This technique is simple enough for anyone to do with beautiful, pleasing, self-gratifying results.
Patti will teach you to design, cut out, stitch, fuse, and machine appliqué this beautiful “Prize-Winning” kaleidoscopic flower garden. Every “bloom” will be a wonderfully random explosion of colour and surprise! There will be no two flowers alike! You will also see other samples of my quilts and discuss the possibilities of using this technique for other sized quilts if desired. In the event that you are ready to finish your quilt, I will teach you the layering and basting processes for quilting and help you with quilting design choices. My ultimate goal is for all students to have fun, enjoy the process and take home a wonderful piece of fabric art. See you there!
